Our Story

Nexvera's story began with questions that were not theoretical. The Arab Spring opened a moment of hope for societies that had lived for years under oppression, authoritarianism, and corruption. Yet after that hope emerged, some countries reached political deadlock, while others saw authoritarianism return in new forms. Eyad Basheer, Nexvera's founder, stood before difficult questions: How can people who rose against tyranny later support a new tyrant? Why does dictatorship not always leave when the dictator leaves? How can large segments of the public be misled by false claims and comforting illusions?

Answering those questions required more than opinion. It required a disciplined way to think, test claims, examine evidence, and respond with argument rather than noise. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the same pattern appeared again: people were exposed to misinformation, pseudoscientific claims, and false certainty presented in the language of science.

During lockdown, Eyad began teaching his children critical thinking through an original method that combined thinking skills, social reality, social motivation, and analysis of human behavior. That work became the seed of a new curriculum: a way to teach critical thinking by first examining the ideas and pressures that accumulate in the mind and restrict free judgment. From that came the Cognitive Barriers methodology.
